Simulations, Universes and Possibilities

There has been a lot more thought now on why our universe is nothing more than a sophisticated video game.

I have often thought about it as such, and I have likened light to be the medium of energy and information transfer in our Universe. I would think gravity and forces were caused by light information travelling to particles, causing them to move accordingly.

Now, according to me, it is hard to go back in time and jump into the future, expecting the Universe to compute all of these events quickly enough. Why, you may ask? Because it indeed takes a long time to compute your own life, one dependency at a time and one living entity at a time. Otherwise, Life would only be throwing coarsely accurate but completely random events at us than the true, perfectly accurate simulated future.

Now, time is pretty relative to who computes it. There are some frames in life, where when nobody's observing anything, the Universe could go on a rampage and advance our timelines rapidly. On t…

In Loving Memory

This one is for my father, Viswanathan Raghavan.

Father, I owe it to you for being the most hardworking, honest and creative one in our family. I was not expecting you to go. I was always hopeful of a long term recovery and you left us too soon. I guess the pain must have been too much for you.
I am a little unhappy that we had to keep you on doctor orders in those last few days. And that we had to wean you away from all the food that you truly enjoyed.

I know we could not talk much, except for the occasional greetings. I know you were not entirely happy with our setup at home, but in the case you do get genetically incarnated on this dying planet again, I hope you do have a happier life - a life with more choices than the one you had here.

Having said that, rest in peace.

Can Artifical Intelligence be the Threat to Humanity in the Future?

From Quora. It already is. Humans have already started using computers for their own selfish needs as opposed to the benefit of humanity. Automated stock trading HFT systems are the tip of the AI iceberg about to hit the rest of the human beings. What essentially is being created in AI? Something that can do the exact things that humans do, except being trained with clearer response signals at exceptionally high speeds. And what benefit may it have, you ask? No benefit that a human can't do in a few centuries. And how has that experience been since your time of birth? Imagine feeding many years worth of historical news stories into this neural network and it quickly recognizes these patterns, and can potentially tell you how history could shape up. Or, where more arbitrage lies so that the mass exploitation of resources earthly or otherwise can begin today. Does this make AI smarter than humans? Yes, because so much good information is being fed so quickly. No, because this is …

Why the traditional model of management is broken

Management has typically focused on two aspects down:- Employee engagement
- Performance extractionAnd for managing up:- Grabbing business goals
- Staying aliveThe problem is that they often try to force business goals into the down structure. Which means that communication is often unidirectional. However, there is a possibility of the individual becoming more aware and as a result, these strategies will become ineffective as employees become smarter and decide not to race to the bottom. Which is where the concept of engagement is the only thing keeping good employees in an organization. The idea of management is to keep employees managed, but often, management does not control the source of engagement as well as the end goals. And the best engineers will move away to do something at the next level. And this is where, the businesses are going to have parasites in the long run.
